Week 4

So I haven't lost weight or inches this week, but I haven't gained either. (sidenote, I missed a week of workouts because I was prepping my kids for school)  I have begun adding other elements to my workout as it seems that my body as outsmarted me at least for now.

I have stopped doing the Body by Vi, here's why, there is no fruits or veggies in that drink and I love to eat. I love to eat great food, healthy food, I'm almost vegan and ain't nothing about that drink vegan or lactose free.  I'm not knocking the drink but I am knocking the lifestyle that the company pushes.  They push drinking the drink but not working out or eating healthier. I'm confused  I thought eating healthy and working out where related?

You see a lot of their "success" stories that are noticeably smaller but with a lot of hanging fat. Now, in all fairness, not everyone on the Body by Vi challenge is forgoing a workout, many do, but it's the fact that the company doesn't "push" any form of working out it in any of their materials, or if they do it is so overshadowed by losing weight that it is almost non-existent. It's like everyone is so concerned with weight that no one is thinking health, and that was a culture that I didn't want to be tied to.  With a young daughter I fight hard to make her understand the importance of healthy choices, healthy living and healthy eating.  I realized that in doing the Body by Vi challenge that I wasn't showing her healthy but that I was showing her that all mommy was concerned about was weight.

So, as a Beachbody Coach now I'm back in the saddle and back on my game of eating healthy and being healthy. Showing her that I workout, I make good food choices and good life choices. Showing her that it is all tied in and you can't have one without the other.

Now I know I initially said that the Body by Vi challenge was less expensive and it is if you are just getting the vanilla shakes but here is where they get you. If you would like fruits or vegetables in your shake or you would like to receive some of the benefits afforded to you by Shakeology then you have to purchase these additional items in order to make your shake even more healthy. Once you do all of that the cost is way over what Beachbody would charge you for Shakeology.

So I'm back fully with Beachbody because I know that it works and I know that the products they use are the best and some of healthiest around. Remember there is not a "get healthy quick" scheme especially if you have spent months or even years being unhealthy. Losing weight should only be a small fraction of your journey it shouldn't be the entire journey. Be wary of products that offer you weight loss but don't suggest a workout plan or change in lifestyle or eating. Don't be so sucked in by losing weight (like me) that you are sucked into a program that offers you just getting wrapped up or missing two meals a day to lose weight or inches. Although you will lose weight and inches what are you gaining? Are you gaining muscle, are you gaining a new awareness and appreciation for food and your choices, are you gaining increased cardiovascular capacity. Remember, not just to think about what you're losing but what you are gaining.
